My Before and Afters from the Ultimate Reset

So excited about my results from the Ultimate Reset!!  I lost 13 lbs!!  I am so glad I took on this challenge.  I learned I was stronger than I thought and found some new things I like!!  I feel fantastic!  I was having some pretty bad back pain and it has been almost non existent since doing this Reset!  Clothes fit better and I feel AMAZING!!  I have gone back to eating some things like cheese, meat and eggs, but I still have some vegetarian days too.  I have been able to maintain what I lost and I am really enjoying getting back into working out and running!  I just started Insanity.  Not sure if I am going to follow the whole program day by day because I am enjoying my running!  But I am going to give it a good try!!
If you are nervous about trying this Cleanse because you are not a fan of veggies, please reconsider.  I am not a fan of veggies either and I was terrified to try this!!  I have learned to like some new ones and replaced the ones I wouldn't eat with ones I loved.  It wasn't as scary as I thought it might be ;-)  I feel great and learned so many things about my eating habits!  I was stuck in a plateau and I was able to break it with the Reset!

My husband was able to break his plateau too and lost 15.5 lbs!!!

Ultimate Reset Days 16 - 21

Oh man, life got so crazy I forgot to finish updating my posts from the Reset!  The week we finished was the kids last week of school and we were heading out of town.
We did great and finished the Reset.  I am not going to lie, the last week was tough as I was craving some cheese and eggs (strange things to crave).  We stayed tough and made it all the way through.
Two of my FAVORITE meals from this 3rd week were the Curry Cauliflower and the Asian Stir-fry!  So delicious!!
Every morning was fruit so I had a Tropical Shakeology several days just to change things up!
The one thing I was most looking forward to was working out again.  My husband and I followed the program and didn't do much exercise, just walking.  I do kind of wish I had done more, but I wanted to follow what they said worked.

Ultimate Reset Day 15

Day 1 of Week 3!  Today was Memorial day and we spent the day at the pool.  I packed my salad and snacks to have while I was there.  Planning ahead is KEY on this program!
Fruit for breakfast
Micro green salad for lunch packed to go to the pool.
Carrots, red pepper and edamame hummus for a snack.
Came home for dinner.  Squash, green beans and quinoa.  So yummy!
So proud that I was able to make it through this holiday weekend and stay on track!  Very big for me!
Any questions, email me!

Ultimate Reset Day 14

2 weeks down!!  WOOT WOOT, can't believe it!  I never thought I would make it this far, honestly!  Finished the Detox....so glad!!  The Detox was very gentle, we had no episodes of running to the bathroom.
We both feel great!  My husband is down 12 lbs and I am down 10 lbs!  I have been trying to lose those 10 lbs for 2 years!  This finally helped me break my plateau and learn some better eating habits that will carry through after this Reset.
Today was a Tropical Shakeology for breakfast and microgreen salad for lunch.  Took the kids to the pool in the afternoon so I pack some carrots, red pepper and edamame hummus for a snack.  Dinner was garlic vegetables and squash.  It was supposed to be edamame and corn succotash, but as I was reading ahead for the next week because I was shopping today, I forgot to check todays dinner.  So bad on my part.  Oh well, it was still a dinner from the program, so we are good.

Ultimate Reset Days 12 & 13

We traveled to our cottage for 2 days.  We planned ahead and brought all the food we needed for our cleanse.  It was tough being up north and only being able to eat from this plan.  It was definitely a mind over matter couple of days, but we stuck it out and did great!
Fruit for breakfast both days.
Micro green salad for lunch.
Squash, broccoli and quinoa for dinner.  I could live on the squash and broccoli!!  I think we have it a few time next week too ;-)
This weekend was a big challenge for us and I am so proud that we made it through!!

Ultimate Reset Day 11

Breakfast on the run again, fruit.
Lunch, my favorite, microgreen salad.
Dinner we had on the road.  We headed up to our cottage and we usually get dinner on the way.  This time we made our Tropical Shakeology to drink on the way.
My biggest confession with this cleanse, I can not do the detox.  I tried twice and was unsuccessful.  I was so disappointed and was afraid I couldn't continue properly.  So I decided to buy some vegan capsules (double size) and made it into capsules.  I have to swallow like 12 of them, but at least I get it in.  I know it is not the ideal way to get the detox into my system, but it is better than not doing it at all.

Week 1 Review of The Ultimate Reset

My husband and I are having great success with this program.  We have had some tough moments, but we are encouraging each other to stay on track.
I don't love the Alkalinize, but I am getting it down.
I would suggest you have support if your doing this cleanse.  We have a Facebook group to help.  We have people in all different phases of the cleanse.  We all help, encourage and support each other.  There will be some tough days, but it is so worth the effort.

Ultimate Reset Day 10

Today wasn't too bad.  Breakfast was fruit.
Lunch was the Micro green salad.  That is becoming my staple.  It is easy and delicious!
For dinner I had a Team meeting so I took my Tropical Shakeology with me and there was veggies and fruit there for me to munch on.  It was perfect!
Can't believe we are 1/2 way!!  We have definitely had some tough days, but the fact that we are doing this together has been a huge help.   I am also a part of a support group on Facebook and there are many people in different phases of the cleanse so it is helpful to be able to communicate with people who have already gone through this.  You can join our support group too!!  Email me if your interested!

Ultimate Reset Day 9

Can't believe I made to day 9!  I have had a few rough days, the worst is the grocery store.
Today was our Date Day, so instead of trying to make things work in a restaurant, we packed our lunch, headed to a lake nearby and had a picnic!  We had a beautiful sunny day and it was perfect!

I posted this picture on my Facebook page today.  I really didn't think I could to do this program.  I am a very picky eater, and there are a lot of things I don't like.  I have tried some new things and remade things that I did like from the program to replace the things I didn't like.  I have made it work even with our crazy busy life right now.  Our kitchen is a disaster and I don't see that getting better until we are done.  This is way more cooking than I normally do, but my husband likes to cook and is doing some of it too.

If your thinking about it and not sure because you are a picky eater too, email me and we can chat about it!  You too can do this!!!

Ultimate Reset Day 8

Week 2 has started!!  I really struggled at the grocery store this morning.  I was craving LOTS of things, all things I can't have, so I rushed through.  I don't want my weakness to take over!  I really want to stick this out and finish to see what results I can get!  Having my husband, Dave, do this with me is the key to me being able to continue and finish this challenge!!
Breakfast was melon, so yummy!  I do not struggle with fruit ;-)
We had the yummy micro green salad for lunch.  This is a salad I will definitely have after this cleanse.
For a snack we had some fruit.
Dinner was beans and rice with green beans, Dave had asparagus.  So good.  Another one of my favorite meals.
I am missing cheese and eggs, but this is such a short time, I know I will have them again.  We are getting closer to the 1/2 way point!

Ultimate Reset Day 7

Last day of the first week!!  Feeling pretty good.  Down 6.5 lbs in the first week.  Hoping to keep that up ;-)  This has definitely helped me to break my plateau that I have been in.  Life is really busy and we are doing our best to follow most of the meals.  I am a pretty picky eater, so there are some meals I won't eat, but I will substitute a meal from another day.  There are definitely some meals we will make when we are done that we have really enjoyed.
We were up north, but Dave was able to do some shopping for day 7 so we wouldn't blow it!  We had our Tropical Shakeology for breakfast.
For lunch Dave wanted to use his new grill, so we had quinoa with grilled veggies.  It was delicious!!
We drove home in late afternoon so I had some nuts in the car.  My last day to eat nuts I think.
When we got home we had the micro green salad with some butternut squash soup for dinner.  The salad was really plenty for me.  I didn't have much of the soup.
Glad to be done with the first week.  Tomorrow starts Detox week.  A little nervous about the detox I have to drink, but I guess I make it through!!

Ultimate Reset Day 6

Oh man, today was one crazy day!!  I left the house at 10am for my son's baseball game and ended at our cottage at 10pm!!  I did the best I could for what I could do.  I took my breakfast, Tropical Shakeology, with me to my son's baseball game.  Then we headed to my daughter's soccer game and I had an egg, carrots and peanut butter as my lunch.  After her game we drove 2 hours to my brothers for a birthday party.  I called ahead and made sure there was some stuff I could eat.  They had fruit, salad with dressing on the side and my brother made me a special chicken breast.  I know I wasn't really supposed to have chicken this late in the week, but it was better than my other choices.  I only ate 1/2!  I did pretty good.  After the party, we had a 2 1/2 hour drive to our cottage.  I had some nuts in the car with my water.  I have a hard time with lengthy driving.  I usually need snacks and a big Diet Coke to keep me awake.  I was successful in NOT getting a diet coke, but I had to have some snacks, so I packed some nuts.  I was pretty proud of myself for making it without my diet coke!
It was a long exhausting day, but I think I handled it pretty good!

Ultimate Reset Day 5

Had a fun day today with my son on his field trip.  We did a scavenger hunt around town.  I wore my Fitbit and we walked about 4 miles over a 5 hour time period.  I know it isn't power walking, but it felt great since we aren't supposed to be working out.
Breakfast was oatmeal and fresh fruit.
Lunch on the field trip was a stop at Blimpie, but I packed my own lunch!  I packed the Micro green salad and fruit.  We also made a stop at an ice cream place for a treat on this field trip.  I was so proud of myself for saying NO to ice cream!  I packed myself some nuts for a snack while the kids were having ice cream.
I had an afternoon snack of carrots, peanut butter and an egg.
We had a soccer practice and baseball practice, so I had a Tropical Shakeology for my dinner and I took it with me.
Over all it was a great day!

Ultimate Reset Day 4!

Felt great today!  People were taking about having joint pain and just not feeling right between days 3-5, but I feel great!  I had headaches the first 2 days, but nothing since.  So it will be different for everybody.
Breakfast was fruit with yogurt, but I only had fruit.  I wasn't hungry enough to eat both.
For lunch I had the rice and beans again with some fruit.  We made so much the first day I felt like I needed to eat it up.
Our evening was really busy, so I had a snack of carrots, peanut butter and an egg.  We had lots of running around to do so I made my Tropical Shakeology to take with me for dinner.  I didn't really feel too hungry but I did have a snack of almonds and cashews during the day.
I am doing the best to do most of the meals, but I am a picky person and we have been so busy that the really complicated meals have been hard.  You definitely need time to prepare the meals.  I think if your keeping up with the supplements and doing your best following the meals in the guide (even if you pick from a different day or remake your favorite) I think you will do great.  I have great success so far.  I have lost 6 lbs already.  I know a lot of that is water because we are cutting out so much sodium and drinking so much water, but I am super happy!!

Email me if you have more questions!!

Ultimate Reset Day 3

Day 3 I felt much better.  Headache gone and I didn't feel tired!!
Breakfast was eggs and toast again.  We were supposed to have 2 eggs each, but Dave only made 3 eggs for us to share and I couldn't finish mine.
Dave and I had a date day so we went out for lunch.  We were supposed to have homemade sushi for dinner, but we went out for sushi for lunch.  We brought our own Braggs Aminos for soy sauce.  Our only problem was that this particular place didn't have brown rice :-(  We only had a small portion and we were pretty full.
Still hate the Alkalinize, but I am getting it down!  That is the cup of green stuff in the picture.
We had baseball games and soccer practices in the evening so we both had a Tropical Shakeology as an afternoon snack.
Lunch was supposed to be beans and rice, so we had that for our dinner when we got home.  I love the beans and rice with corn, so yummy!!
Feeling great!  Got a 30 min walk in in the evening.  It does feel extremely weird to not workout, but we are going to try and get some walks in.
Email me if you have any questions!

Ultimate Reset Day 2

Day 2 was good.  Dave and I still had headaches, but nothing we couldn't handle.
Fruit and oatmeal for breakfast.
Lunch was a ceaser salad with chicken, but we made the micro green salad and added chicken with the basic vinaigrette dressing.  Delicious!
We both had an afternoon Tropical Shakeology.
And dinner was fantastic!  We had the rice and bean tacos.  Recipe called for black beans which Dave did.  I did pinto beans for mine.  So yummy!!!
Mixed less water with the Alkalinize and got it down in one gulp and then chugged my water.   I don't see that part getting any better, but I am doing it.
We aren't supposed to do much exercise, but I did do TurboFire Ab Igniter.  We will probably do some walking.
I would say the hardest part is the cooking and deciding how to do dinner with all the after school sports activities.  There will be some days that we have a normal afternoon snack and do our Tropical Shakeology for dinner because we can take it with us.

Ultimate Reset Day 1

Well day one was not to bad!  The food is pretty normal in the beginning.  Eggs and toast for breakfast.  I was supposed to have Kale with it, but I don't like it, and frankly, it was plenty of food.  I had to force myself to finish the eggs and toast.
The micro green salad for lunch was delicious!  I can see myself having that more often!  I used the basic vinaigrette from the Reset....delicious!!
I will admit the Alkalinize is GROSS!  But I did it anyway.  Like my friend Jen says 'just think of all the good it is doing for your body'!  I mix it with very little water and then chug my water after.
I had a Tropical Shakeology for an afternoon snack.  We had a tball game for my son, so dinner was later than we would have liked.  I didn't want to go that long between meals.
Dinner we did chicken breasts and broccoli with the potatoes instead of salmon and asparagus.  It was delicious!!  We made enough chicken for day 2.
My energy was fine, my only problem was I had a headache all day!  Not sure if it was from no caffeine or some say it is from the Oxygenize drops you add to your water.  I had the headache all day, but it didn't stop me.  I am told it goes away.

My husband is doing this with me and his first day was a little off.  He worked midnights on Sunday night so when he got home Monday morning, he went right to bed.  When he got up about 12:30pm, he had his breakfast (when I had lunch).  We both had a Shakeology in the afternoon and dinner together.  So for his midnight shift on Monday I packed him the micro green salad (the lunch from day 1) to take to work.   So his meals were a little mixed up, but he got all the supplements in and did the best for his work situation.   So you can make this what you need it to be.

Bodybugg - Fitbit - Heart Rate Monitor
I am asked all the time what the difference is between the Bodybugg and the Fitbit.  They are both products that count your calories burned so you can figure out what your deficit for the day is.  Over the last couple of days I  wore my Bodybugg, Fitbit and a heart rate monitor to compare them all against the same activity.  They all have their good points and bad points.

BodyBugg--  Price ranges from $99-$129.99.  There are 2 options, Version 3 that you can purchase an extra watch type readout to use with it or the SP version that works with your iphone.  I have the SP version and I always have a hard time getting it to sync with my phone.  I usually just hook it up to the computer when I want to know my stats.

It counts your calories burned as well as the steps you take.  You can wear it over night, but it doesn't really give you a correct read out of your sleep pattern.  I think that BodyMedia's version does give you a sleep read out.

It runs on a rechargeable battery that lasts several days before you have to plug it back in to charge.  It does take a while to charge.

You wear it on your arm and it works by movement and body heat with sensors that touch your arm.  I think it is pretty accurate with calories burned because it connects with your body.  It is bulky and not very pretty.  I have added crystals to the bands for my Bodybugg to make them more attractive.  It is very noticeable on your arm.

It is expensive in cost and up keep.  Not only do you pay for the unit, you also pay a monthly fee to use the website and collect the data.  It doesn't do much good without the subscription.

Bodybugg has its own online program to track your food intake.  It has an app, but it only syncs with the SP version.  Could probably still use it to track food and it would sync with the online program, but doesn't sync with any other apps.  I don't really care for their tracking system online or the app.

Fitbit--  The price is $99.  Only a one time cost!!  No monthly fee!  The cheapest of the units.

It counts your calories burned, steps you take, flights of stairs you climb and how many miles you have walked for the day.  It also tracks your sleep pattern and lets you know how your sleeping.

It is small and discreet.  Can fit in a pocket, on the waist of your pants/skirt, hooks on the center of a bra for women and also comes with a belt clip for a secure fit.  You can hide it very easily.

Fitbit also has it's own online program and phone app for tracking your food, but it also syncs with My Fitness Pal and Lose it.  Might even sync with a couple of other apps as well.  All the apps are free.  I personally really like Lose it.  Both Lose it and MFP have scanners to help you add your food choices!

I do love the Fitbit, but I find because it doesn't work on body heat or heart rate, the calories are not always accurate.  When you set it up you enter your height, weight and age, so it gives you an estimate based on that information.  I found it to be consistently lower than my Bodybugg, but for the cost it does a great job.

Heart Rate Monitor (HRM)--  Prices vary depending on the brand and model.  Really only works for counting calories during a workout.  Can't really wear it all day and it doesn't counts steps or miles.  Only counts calories, but is great for someone who has to watch their heart rate while working out.

My comparisons:

Running 5K
Bodybugg- 36 mins
calories-  361
steps-  5778

Fitbit-  36 mins
calories-  344
steps-  5073

HRM-  35 mins
calories-  321

*my overall totals for the day were Bodybugg- 2680 cals burned, 10943 steps
Fitbit- 2245 cals burned, 10864 steps

Zumba (60 min class)
Bodybugg-
calories-  506

Fitbit-
calories-  386
steps-  5810

HRM-
calories-  388

*my overall totals for the day were Bodybugg- 3061 calories, 13063 steps
Fitbit- 2355 cals burned, 13961 steps

When it comes down to it, it is really just a personal preference.  They are all really good products.  If you just want to know what you burn during workouts, the HRM is a great choice.  If you want really accurate information for your overall day the Bodybugg is great.  If you need something discreet the Fitbit is for you.  They all work if you put them to good use and you track the food your eating so you know what your deficit is.  If your not tracking your food, you won't find much difference in any of the products.

We had a great race!!
Dave had a goal to do the 10K in 1 hour.  We couldn't remember his time last year, but we knew it was over an hour.  He finished the race in 59:40!!!  20 seconds faster than his goal!!  So proud of him.  He worked really hard to get there!!
My goal this year was to beat my time form last year, 1:15, not sure if that was the exact time, but that is what I had logged.  My time this year was 1:10:04!!  Beat my time by 5 min!!!  I felt better at the end of the race than I did last year.
We really enjoyed hanging out in downtown Grand Rapids after our race.  We found other friends that did the 5K run.  Then we watched our friends finish the 25K run.  I had such a great time cheering everyone else on!  It was exciting to see how busy our beautiful downtown was!
Looking forward to doing it again next year!  Maybe we will have some more friends join us!!

Picked up our race bibs today for the Fifth Third Riverbank Run!  Getting excited to do the 10K again this year.  Hoping the weather holds out for us.  It has rained 8 of the last 10 years for the race!  Hoping this year is good!

My Running Partner

So thankful for my husband who loves to run.   I have not been a big runner and I really dislike the treadmill.  I love running outside, however, I am a fair weather runner.   My husband, Dave, has been helping me get ready for the 5th 3rd Riverbank Run 10K that we are doing this weekend.  I love having someone to run with who pushs me to get better.
